YOUR CAREER, OUR SCHOOL, ONE HORIZON

Safeguarding and Pre Employment Vetting Information

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are an equal opportunities employer and want our staff profile to reflect the community we serve.

The Trust pays full regard to DfES guidance ‘Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education’ Jan 2007. We ensure that all appropriate measures are applied in relation to everyone who works for the Trust who is likely to be perceived by the children as a safe and trustworthy adult, including for example volunteers and staff employed by contractors on site.

Candidates should be aware that all employees within the Trust, no matter their role, have a responsibility towards child protection and safeguarding the welfare of young people. Working with children and young people is a position of trust and brings with it responsibilities that reflect in the expectations we have of employees outside the workplace. As an employee, you will be expected to role model behaviours and maintain a level of professionalism, inside and outside the workplace. We believe working with children and young people is a privilege and we are dedicated to ensuring that our students feel safe and secure in their learning environment.

For the benefit of all those considering applying for a role within our Trust, please note:

· It is an offence to apply for a role in a school and/or working with children if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.

· We only accept completed application forms; please complete all sections of the application form and declare any previous employment.

· If you are shortlisted for interview, you will be asked to declare any relevant criminal convictions. Guidance on whether a conviction should be declared can be found at Guidance on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Exceptions Order 1975 – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).

· At interview we will ask applicants to verify information on their application form, including work history.

· Wherever possible we will request references prior to interview and we will ask for information relating to disciplinary and capability issues and if you are suitable to work with young people, even if your current role is not working with children or young people.

Any offer of employment will be subject to the following:

· Provision of original documentation to evidence your identity and eligibility to work in the UK.

· An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which will include a check to see if a candidate is barred from working with children and young people. (To be completed by the Trust.)

· Online checks (social media and adverse international media).

· A minimum of two written references.

· Provision of original qualification certificates relevant to the post.

· Prohibition from teaching check (Leadership and teaching roles. To be completed by the Trust).
