STEM club had their second visit from Professor Patrick Fairclough from Sheffield University on Monday 17th June. Professor Fairclough is our Royal Society partner and is working with STEM club for the duration of their project. Students spent all day building their own wind turbines to go with the turbine blades they had been researching and developing this term.
Working in groups the students were given a selection of components and they spent the morning building their prototype wind turbine. In the afternoon they tested the output of their creations, and then modified their blades to see if the output could be improved.
Next steps will be to take their modified wind turbines to the wind tunnel at Sheffield University for further testing.
