Y7 – Ollie Whiteley is an outstanding student and committed to life at Horizon. So far this year he has achieved 383 achievement points, 10 postcards home and there have been 27 occasions where he has been star of the lesson – that’s an average of roughly one per week. He is eager to be part of all aspects of school life and really did us proud when he spoke at the remembrance assembly in November. He is a valued member of the football team and, although he hasn’t yet been chosen for the squad, never gives up trying. His resilience was also demonstrated at Winmarleigh Hall where he gave his all to the challenges of the weekend.
Y8 – Lisa Lin – outstanding commitment to learning, being a positive role model within the year group and setting high standards throughout lessons and unstructured time.
Y9 – Isabel Edwards – Isabel has put a tremendous amount of effort into all aspects of college life. Isabel is part of the student ambassador programme supporting weekly with the year 7 reading programme. In addition she takes a leading role in the careers and enterprise team driving forward and promoting opportunities for the year 9 school. Her expectations and attributes ranking exemplary and is always there to lend a hand when needed for any college event.
Y10 – Mya Kikup – Excellent Contribution to school and community life through Music, Dance and Drama. Highlights include Grade 1 Saxophone, Grade 1 music theory, recent audition for Northern Contemporary Dance, Visiting South Africa this summer with Barnsley Youth Choir. Recent starring role in Penistone Paramount theatre in High school musical as Miss Darbus. And she still manages to excel in school life with over 100 achievement points and above 97% attendance. Well Done Mya!
