On Wednesday 7th October 2020, as part of National Skills Day, the Careers and Enterprise Department have been working across the College to emphasise the skills that students use every day. They highlighted skills in every subject area across 40 different classrooms and involved over 1200 students. We wanted to document the variety of skills taking place throughout school not only on National Skills Day but on a daily basis.
The Careers Café was open as a drop in session for students to show their skills out of the classroom such as hobbies, certificates and other skills that they are have developed.
All students were emailed direct to advertise the day and were given the opportunity to submit a short film or photograph to showcase their skill out of school. The team received clips of swimming, guitar playing, photography skills and even a student flying an aeroplane!
Horizon Community College were recognised as a leading school for National Skills Day by National Careers Week on Twitter. The Careers and Enterprise Team would like to say thank you for all the support they have received from departments and the students involved.
